Why I Started The Earth's Crown
The Earth's Crown is very personal to me.
I have been an esthetician for more than 18 years, and I have always been around beauty, skin care, herbs, oils and traditional ways of taking care of ourselves. But there was a time when I didn't feel very good about my own hair.
I had tuberculosis and, during my treatment, I was on steroids. My hair changed a lot during that period. I started losing hair, and honestly, it affected my confidence.
People would even tell me, "At this rate, you're going to go bald."
I took those words personally.
I started trying different hair products that were available in the market. I was looking for something that would make me feel like myself again. But after trying so many things, I eventually went back to what I had grown up seeing at home.
I went back to the things my mother used to do.
I remembered watching her sit down, make her own oil with herbs, warm it, and slowly massage it into our scalp. Back then, I never thought much about it. It was just something I had seen her do for years for both me and my brother.
But when I was struggling, those little memories suddenly meant something different.
I realized I had grown up around something I had never really stopped to appreciate.
So I went back to my roots.
I started making my own oil again, using the herbs and oils I had known for years. I started giving my scalp the attention I had been giving everything else.
And slowly, something changed.
Not just in my hair.
In me.
I started feeling more comfortable looking in the mirror again. I started feeling like I was getting a little piece of myself back.
That feeling stayed with me.
And Then I Became a Mother
Years later, I found myself going through something that felt strangely familiar.
After recently having my baby, I experienced postpartum hair loss. My hair started shedding, and my temples became so sparse that there were times I felt like I was almost going bald around the sides.
It was hard to look in the mirror.
But this time, I remembered my mother.
When my younger brother was born, I remember seeing my mother make hair oil for herself and apply it regularly. She had beautiful, healthy-looking hair, and oiling her hair was simply something she did.
There was no fancy packaging.
No complicated routine.
Just herbs, oils, her hands and consistency.
I started thinking about those memories and began making my own oil again.
But I wanted to give the traditional ritual a modern touch.
I started experimenting with botanical ingredients, herbs and nourishing carrier oils, thinking about what I had learned through my years as an esthetician and what modern women actually need from a scalp-care routine.
I focused on the scalp first.
Because we spend so much time worrying about our hair, but sometimes forget where our hair begins.
Before the hair, there is the scalp.
And as I continued using my own botanical oil, I felt that familiar confidence coming back.
That is when the idea for The Earth's Crown really started to take shape.
From Something Personal to a Brand
I didn't set out to create another hair oil.
I wanted to create something around scalp wellness.
Something that brought together the botanical ingredients and traditional wisdom I grew up with, my experience as an esthetician, and a more modern approach to hair and scalp care.
That became the foundation of The Earth's Crown.
Our approach is simple:
We use herbs, roots, flowers and nourishing carrier oils because these ingredients have been part of traditional hair-care rituals for generations. But we also believe in being thoughtful about how they are brought into a modern botanical hair-care routine.
And Revive Is Especially Personal
Our Revive botanical scalp oil comes from this part of my story.
The botanical ingredients and herbs in Revive are inspired by the kind of traditional oiling ritual I remembered from my mother, especially during the time after my brother was born.
I have brought those memories, my own postpartum experience, my years of working in beauty, and a modern formulation approach together in Revive.
It isn't about promising that one oil can fix every hair concern.
It is about creating a thoughtful scalp-care ritual for a time when your hair and your relationship with it may feel different.
Because I know what it feels like.
I've heard the comments.
I've tried the products.
And I've gone back to my roots.
That is why The Earth's Crown exists.
Not because I believe there is one perfect solution for everyone's hair.
But because I believe we can start by paying attention to the scalp, choosing our ingredients intentionally, and bringing a little more care back into our everyday rituals.
Your hair is your crown.
Your scalp is where it begins.
And that is where my story with The Earth's Crown begins too.
